To Write or Type? Study Note Cheat Sheet

There was a time, way before our students were born, that we wrote our study notes in exercise books, loose-leaf pages or flash cards.

These options are all still available, as well as newer technological options of typing notes in a word processor, creating online flashcards on an app or website, creating a notebook online.

So, which one should you use or recommend for your students?

It depends …

What an awful answer!

Let me explain.

  1. If you’re not writing any notes then just pick one and start! Something is way better than nothing.
  2. If you’re already writing notes and like what you’re doing and it’s working for you keep going.
  3. If you’re looking for something new or your approach hasn’t been as successful as it could be then you might want to consider these alternatives.

I’ve designed an infographic, Should I Write or Type, summarising a few things to consider.
