There was a time, way before our students were born, that we wrote our study notes in exercise books, loose-leaf pages or flash cards.
These options are all still available, as well as newer technological options of typing notes in a word processor, creating online flashcards on an app or website, creating a notebook online.
So, which one should you use or recommend for your students?
It depends …
What an awful answer!
Let me explain.
- If you’re not writing any notes then just pick one and start! Something is way better than nothing.
- If you’re already writing notes and like what you’re doing and it’s working for you keep going.
- If you’re looking for something new or your approach hasn’t been as successful as it could be then you might want to consider these alternatives.
I’ve designed an infographic, Should I Write or Type, summarising a few things to consider.
