My tutoring business has been operational in Sydney’s south and south-west since 1994 and provides me with the chance to work directly with students with dyslexia and dyscalculia. This is why I research and develop materials to support students with learning disabilities. For the past 19 years, under the business name Samantha Hornery Education Consulting (formally Samantha Hornery Private Tutoring Service), I have been providing assessments, individualized tutoring and referral services for children with learning difficulties and disabilities. The philosophy of my business has remained consistent throughout this time – children with learning difficulties have enormous potential to improve and targeted services for their specific needs are required for these children. The current range of services include:
Academic Assessments. A comprehensive academic assessment considering the key areas of literacy and numeracy can be organised for your child. Consideration of previous assessments and interventions will be synthesized with the current results to provide you with relevant information about your child’s academic functioning, areas for additional assessment and strategies for intervention. This assessment will take on average 2 hours and a detailed report will be prepared on the basis of this assessment. The cost of this assessment is $300 and is conducted in Sydney’s south.
Individual Tutoring. Weekly tutoring sessions of one-hour duration can be booked with me, Dr Samantha Hornery. These sessions will be personalized to cater for the specific learning needs of your child. Weekly sessions cost $65 per hour during school terms in Sydney’s south.
Consultancy. A range of consultancy services can be arranged to gain further insight into the field of learning disabilities and learn new strategies to work with children with learning disabilities. Consultancy rates are $120 for the first hour and $70 for each hour thereafter.
Consultancy is an option for families who are not able to access weekly face-to-face sessions. I can review assessments and make recommendations for the kinds of services and programs for your child.
