Contact Samantha

Hi and welcome

I’m Samantha Hornery and I help children and teenagers with difficulties learning to find their own path for independence and happiness, as well as give their parents and teachers some tips to help too.

I trained as a primary teacher and knew early on that I was most interested in the kids who don’t seem to get it easily. This sent me on a path I’ve passionately followed to be able to support so many people impacted by difficulties learning. I have a Bachelor of Education (Primary – Sydney University, Major: Special Education) and Doctor of Philosophy (University of Western Sydney) in effective reading interventions for children with learning difficulties.

My approach is to look for the missing pieces, to listen really carefully and watch before starting to put the pieces together to form a battle plan for success through or around those learning difficulties – everyone’s path is a little different.

I believe in setting clear goals that are truly achievable and providing clear communication every step of the way. But, most importantly, am nimble for quick changes if it’s not working – I’m after a partnership built on trust to make ensure everyone gets what they need when they need it.

2019 marks my 21st year teaching and 25 years of tutoring (wow – I know!) I’ve helped so many children and teenagers, their parents and families and I’m not done yet!

I am constantly asking my students to be brave and to trust themselves, now it’s my turn to do that as well by expanding the ways I help.

In 2019 Samantha Hornery Education Consulting will be expanding to include more online services to help a greater number of people finding themselves stuck when learning. I’m simplifying the brand to “Samantha Hornery” and being true to what I’ve been doing all along – help when learning is hard – no matter why that may be.

It’s been an enormous privilege to work, hand in hand, alongside so many children, teenagers, families and teachers to help make learning easier.

I simply can’t wait to hear how you experience these new additions to the help I can offer and your suggestions for other ways I can help.

Sam
