Hi, I'm Sam and I help children and teenagers find success in learning and life.

This is my Story

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. So I trained as a primary teacher and knew early on that I could make the biggest difference with kids who don't get it the first - or second - time.

This sent me on a path I've followed my whole career to teach children and teenagers impacted by difficulties learning, culminating in completing a Doctor of Philosophy in effective reading interventions (hence Dr Samantha Hornery).

I've been tutoring for over 25 years (wow - I know!) and I've helped so many children and teenagers, their families and teachers and I'm not done yet!

It's been an enormous privilege to work, hand in hand, alongside so many children, teenagers, families and teachers to help make learning easier. I'm with them for the long haul to support them for as long as they need it.

But, there are only so many hours in the day and so this website is designed to provide parents, teachers and students with tips to improve learning, manage overwhelm at school and seek advice. Watch this space - online courses for study and time management are coming!
